ISLAMABD: Senator Muhammad Javed Abbasi said that revival of economy was on top priority of the government and it was making strenuous efforts to create an enabling environment to give boost to business and economic activities.
A delegation of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry led by its President Muzzamil Hussain Sabri and Abdul Rauf Alam Chairman Founder Group called on Muhammad Javed Abbasi to congratulate him on being elected as senator. Mr. Masood Abbasi, brother of Senator Muhammad Javed Abbasi was also present at the occasion.
He said that businessmen were playing an important role in the economic development of the country and government was determined to resolve their key issues to facilitate smooth growth of business activities. He said that ICCI should share concerns of its members and assured that he would try to take up them with relevant authorities for redress.
Speaking at the occasion, Muzzamil Hussain Sabri, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) highlighted various issues of business community. He stressed that government should pay urgent attention to resolving energy crisis which was main hurdle in promoting industrialization and attracting investment.
He said that the local markets and industrial areas were in dire need of better infrastructure to accelerate trade and industrial activities. He said a comprehensive roadmap was should be developed for the beautification of Islamabad and assured that ICCI was ready to extend all possible cooperation to CDA to improve business infrastructure and develop Islamabad as a model city.
Abdul Rauf Alam, Chairman Founder Group said that the prevailing tax system in the country was not conducive for private sector and urged that government should involve all stakeholders in consultation for developing a fair taxation system that should help in broadening the tax base and improving tax revenue of the country.
Muhammad Shakeel Munir Senior Vice President and Muhammad Ashfaq Hussain Chatha Vice President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry also discussed many important issues of trade and industry and requested the Senator to play his role in resolving them.
Muhammad Ejaz Abbasi, Malik Sohail Hussain, Tahir Abbasi, Khalid Chaudhry, Syed Adil Anis and M. Ishtiaq Qureshi were also in the ICCI delegation.
