LAHORE: Retail price fixation issue has further aggregated as containers of billions of rupees are not cleared as the port authorities are adamant to fix the retail prices on the imported goods at the ports.
On the other hand, importers said that it is next to impossible to put prices on the goods and articles at the ports due to several other reasons.
They said that some the containers at the customs ports are also perishable and they would certainly get perished if the containers are not freed within one or two days. They said that fixation of the prices is difficult because of the variation in the dollar rates.
They added that containers are stuck at the ports which are not only creating shortage of the daily usage items but also putting the important revenue of the government at stake.
Traders Alliance Information Secretary Arshaid Bhatti told Customs Today that immediate release of the containers is inevitable before the start of the Eidul Azha.
He appealed to the FBR Chairman Shabbir Zaidi to take notice of the issue and release the containers.
