KARACHI: The rental ceilings of all employees from Grade 1 to 22 working in federal ministries, divisions, attached Department and subordinate Offices at Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar has been enhanced by the government with effect from October 1.
According to an Office Memorandum titled “Revision of rental ceilings for hiring of residential accommodation at six specified stations, i.e. Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Quetta, Karachi and Peshawar,” issued by Obaid-ud-Din, Section Officer (Policy), Ministry of Housing and Works, monthly rental ceiling for officers of entitlement B.S 22 at Islamabad and at remaining five stations has been increased from Rs 33,760 to Rs 45,576 and from Rs 30,600 to Rs 41,310 respectively. This is the biggest rental ceiling increase among all grades of employees both in term of amount as well as percentage.
The rental ceiling for BS 21 entitlement officers at Islamabad and at the other five stations is increased from Rs 28,210 to Rs 38,084 and from Rs 24,383 to Rs 32,920 respectively. The rental ceiling for B.S 20 entitlement officers at Islamabad and at the other five stations is increased from Rs 23,560 to Rs 31,806 and from Rs 20,260 to Rs 27,351 respectively.
The rental ceiling for B.S 19 entitlement officers at Islamabad and at the other five stations is increased from Rs 18,760 to Rs 25,325 and from Rs 16,955 to Rs 21,674 respectively. The rental ceiling for BS 17-18 entitlement officers at Islamabad and at the other five stations is increased from Rs 14,110 to Rs 19,049 and from Rs 12,310 to Rs 16,619 respectively. The rental ceiling for B.S 14-16 entitlement officers at Islamabad and at the other five stations is increased from Rs 10,660 to Rs 14,391 and from Rs 9,305 to Rs 12,560 respectively.
The rental ceiling for B.S 11-13 entitlement employees at Islamabad and at the other five stations is increased from Rs 8,485 to Rs 11,455 and from Rs 7,360 to Rs 9,936 respectively. The rental ceiling for B.S 7-10 entitlement employees at Islamabad and at the other five stations is increased from Rs 5,625 to Rs 7,594 and from Rs 5,035 to Rs 6,797 respectively. The rental ceiling for B.S 3-6 entitlement employees at Islamabad and at the other five stations is increased from Rs 3,765 to Rs 5,083 and from Rs 3,310 to Rs 4,469 respectively. The rental ceiling for B.S 1-2 entitlement employees at Islamabad and at the other five stations is increased from Rs 2,410 to Rs 3,256 and from Rs 2,260 to Rs 3,051.
The enhanced rental ceilings would apply to all cases of fresh hiring and also to cases where the allottee or occupant is obliged to pay difference of rent to the owner out of his own resources, in which case the rent may be increased up to the owner’s demand.
