KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday adjourned the hearing of a case pertaining to removal of super model Ayyan Ali’s name from Exit Control List (ECL).
The division bench of the SHC was hearing the plea filed by Ayyan Ali, submitting that the SHC had directed the government to remove her name from the ECL and allowed the government a seven-day time to approach the apex court to challenge its order but now the given time period has ended.
In Tuesday’s hearing, the interior secretary appeared on the court’s directives. He stated that the SHC’s order, that allowed the super model to go abroad, had been challenged in the Supreme Court. “ The apex court is likely to take up the case in coming few days and adjourn the hearing till then,” he added.
Ayyan’s counsel was of the view that her client was facing huge financial losses as she was restrained from travelling abroad for her professional assignments. The court adjourned the hearing until Wednesday (today).
Earlier on June 10, the SHC expressed displeasure over the interior secretary for not appearing in the court. The court had ordered him to appear in Tuesday’s hearing otherwise his arrest warrant would be issued.
Earlier on June 2, the SHC had once again directed the relevant authorities to remove Ayyan Ali’s name from the list which restrained her from going out of the country. The federal government has approached the apex court once again, challenging the SHC’s order.
