ISLAMABAD: The Excise And Taxation Department Rawalpindi in a crackdown against token tax defaulter and unregistered vehicles has impounded 1,460 vehicles.
Excise Director Tanveer Gondal said that operation against tax defaulters was also conducted on Sundays. The crackdown was at four locations in Rawalpindi during which 3,000 vehicles were checked.
Gondal added that 1,460 vehicles were impounded, which were token tax defaulters, besides showing determination that action will be continued in order to trap the defaulters.
Officials informed Customs Today that Excise and Taxation Officer Shahid Iqbal impounded 205 vehicles, Azam 204 vehicles, Malik Pervaiz 209 vehicles, Gul Sher 151 and Noman impounded 200 vehicles during operation.
They further added that 185 vehicles were held up in Jehlum, 145 in Chakwal and 161 in Attock.
