QUETTA: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation foiled a bid to smuggle imported non duty paid helmets and motorcycle parts worth Rs 8 million during special checking on Thursday.
Sources told Customs Today that Director I&I Muhammad Akram Chaudhary received a tip-off that some smugglers are trying to smuggle non duty paid helmets and motorcycle parts out of Quetta.
He constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Inspector Shoaib Mehmood, Javed Bangash and others. The team enhanced the surveillance on Quetta Highway and started searching of vehicles.
During the search operation, the team intercepted a small truck bearing registration no: QBM-8340 which was going outside of Quetta. During the checking, the customs team recovered 2,000 non duty paid helmets and different kinds of motorcycle parts worth Rs 8 million including truck being used in smuggling. The customs team seized all electronics items and arrested two persons.
