Quetta customs seizes smuggled goods worth Rs10m at Lakpas check post

Quetta customs seizes smuggled goods worth Rs10m at Lakpas check post

QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs anti-smuggling squad seuzed huge quantity of smuggled goods from vehicle going to Karachi at Lakpas Check Post. The value of the recovered goods is approximately Rs10 million.

According to sources, Collector Customs Preventive Irfan Javed received credible information about smuggling of goods to Karachi. He immediately directed Additional Collector Yasir Kalwar to take necessary measures to thwart any attempt of smuggling.

Anti-smuggling squad under the supervision Deputy Collector Akbar Jan enhanced vigilance on all the suspected routes and check posts including Lakpas. The suspected vehicle was spotted and intercepted.

During checking of vehicle Inspector Jamil Kakar recovered large quantity of smuggled goods including cloth, tyres, cigarettes etc were recovered. The value of the recovered goods is approximately Rs10 million.

It may be mentioned here that Lakpas is a busy post and hundreds of vehicles carrying edibles as well as other goods pass through Lakpas to Karachi and other parts of the country.
