QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs staff deputed at Quetta International Airport has seized large quantity of milk-enhancement hormone injections for cattle; import of these hormones is prohibited in Pakistan.
Sources told that Collector Customs Preventive Iftikhar Ahmed received credible information about smuggling of hormones injection. He constituted a team under the supervision of Additional Collector Yasir Wahab which also included Deputy Collector Ch. Imran Afzal, Assistant Collector Rana Umair. Superintendent Aslam Khan and Inspector Mir Qalam had tightened vigilance on the passenger cargo.
Customs team noticed some suspicious bags which were brought from Dubai. The same were checked and 20,000 harmful injections Boostin (Korean origin) were recovered. The value of the goods is estimated at Rs60 million in the international market.
Collectorate of Customs Quetta also foiled a bid to smuggle goods at Saranan in Pishin and seized large quantity of smuggled goods worth Rs80 million.
Information was received through Chief Collector Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Chaudry that smugglers had gathered in Saranan and smuggled goods would be transported to inner Karachi and other cities.
Collector Preventive Iftikhar Ahmed directed Additional Collectors Jameel Baloch, Yasir Wahab, Assistant Collectors Saleem Tahir, Rana Umair, Superintendents Yunus Ata, Saleem Agha and Inspector Shahzad Akhtar to secure assistance from FC and Police and conduct an operation.
