QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs team foiled a bid to smuggle 8,000 kilograms of betel nuts, 500 kilogram Indian Pan Prag and huge quantity of non-duty paid tyres from a passenger bus.
Sources told that Collector Preventive Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad received credible information about smuggling of goods through a passenger coach. He directed Additional Collector Jameel Baloch and Assistant Collector Saleem Tahir and Superintendent Aslam Khan to take all possible measures to thwart attempt of smuggling.
The customs team established a check-post near Sohrab and recovered huge quantity of betel nuts, Indian Pan Prag and tyres from different passenger buses. The market value of seized goods is Rs40 million in market.
Chief Collector Zulfiqar Ali Chaudhary lauded the performance of the customs team and directed to adopt zero tolerance policy towards smuggling.
