QUETTA: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation foiled a bid to smuggle fertilizers and different kinds of chemicals worth Rs6.50 million during special checking on Friday.
Sources told Customs Today that Director I&I Muhammad Akram Chaudhary received a tip-off that some smugglers are trying to smuggle fertilizers and different kinds of urea chemicals from Quetta to other cities.
He constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Inspector Rana Mujahid, Saleem Aiwan and others. The team enhanced the surveillance on Quetta exit way and started searching the vehicles.
During the search operation, the team intercepted a truck bearing registration no: QKD-0936 which was going out of Quetta. During the checking, the customs team recovered 200 packets of urea and different kinds of liquid chemicals worth Rs 6.50 million including truck being used in the smuggling. The customs team after registering a case against the accused persons started investigations.
