NEW YORK: “Qualcomm Technologies is pleased to power the next generation Project Tango development device,” said Raj Talluri, senior vice president of product management, Qualcomm Technologies. “We’re excited to work together with Google and Android developers to help deliver new, innovative visual experiences using depth-sensing technology on mobile devices.”
‘Tango’ is basically 3D image creator software that enables the user to capture 3D images and environment recognition. The space and depth can be calculated by this software with the use of sensor data. It creates an accurate mapping which helps the software to recognize space and depth.
When ‘Tango’ was launched for developers, it was an expensive buy, but now the tablet kit cost has gone down a great bit costing $512 in the present day. The principles of this new smartphone project are same as that of the tablet, but since it’s a smaller device, it can increase the possibilities of usage.
‘Tango’ devices also help you to map the interior design of your house and garden. You can make architectural sketches in 3D using accurate measurements. Virtual environments can be created using the sensor and image data which can further be used for self driving cars. The collision avoiding softwares can also use this technology.
The tablet comes with a spacious screen size of 7 inches and a resolution of 1080*1920. It’s powered with 4GB of RAM and the size of data that can be stored in it is 128GB. The cameras that come with the tablet work in synchronization with a depth sensor.
The users can employ options for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The new device would first be launched for the developers and then for the general crowd. A Snapdragon 810 CPU will be included in the device. As a part of testing, Google has already sent the device into space. The test has been made in a unique environment, thanks to the collaboration of Google with the NASA Ames Research Center.
Qualcomm believes that the developers will have an ability to buy the Smartphone ‘Tango’ project in the third quarter of the year.
