DOHA: Customs officers seized 7kg of marijuana from an Asian traveller at the Hamad International Airport recently.
The crime was detected after an officer grew suspicious when he inspected a bag belonging to the traveller. When he was sent for more inspection, 7kg of marijuana was found hidden in a secret way inside the bag. The customs department has transferred the case and the accused to the authorities concerned.
Ahmed bin Ali Al Mohannadi, Chairman of the General Authority of Customs, honoured the inspector for his vigilance that led to the discovery of the hidden substance. Al Mohannadi stressed that Customs personnel played a vital role in protecting the country against the harmful effects of narcotics. The Authority is providing its employees with training programs based on their specialty, to enhance their experience and professionalism in all customs fields.
