WARSAW: The CEO of PZU Andrzej Klesyk told reporters on Monday that the Poland’s largest listed insurance firm PZU is eyeing multiple banking acquisitions in Poland,. “We are looking at the deals,” Klesyk said. Asked about recent reports that the firm is eyeing two or maybe three such purchases, he added: “For us, acquisition of a single bank would make no sense.”
Last Thursday a local business daily reported that PZU is interested in the purchase of as many as three large-cap banks now on sale: Alior, Raiffeisen Bank Polska and GE-unit BPH in what would be a historic integration to create the nation’s fifth largest bank.
