ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of Imran Khan on Monday strongly confronted the government for skyrocketing electricity bills, mounted prices of vegetables and fruits and prolonged loadshedding. PTI committee also placed various demands before the Nawaz Sharif government.
The PTI core committee which met here said that the government paid off circular debt on pretext of ending loadshedding but load shedding has increased after this payment. Why has there been Rs 70 billion over billing?
It said that electricity bills went up by 80 per cent and despite that loss of Rs 1 billion a day was still continued.
The committee said that despite raised rates the government had discriminated the rights of the nation by overbilling in electricity bills to the tune of billions of rupees. Core committee demanded this looted money be returned to the public and those responsible be brought to justice.
The Committee reminded that it had already approached the court against the overbilling in electricity bills.
