LISBON: From June 1, 2015, The Portuguese Government announced that five million tax returns were submitted via the internet this year a marked increase on 2014 levels.
The tax agency received 3.2m tax returns covering employment and/or pension income via the internet by the April 30 deadline. This represents a 3.9 percent increase compared with last year. In addition, 1.7m tax returns for other types of income were filed online by the May 31 deadline, representing a year-on-year increase of some 13.4 percent.
The Ministry of Finance said that the increases are due to efforts to improve the efficiency of online tax filing to benefit taxpayers.
