KARACHI: Shipping activity at the Port Qasim remained active where three ships C.V APL Oman, C.V MSC General and M.V Azur carrying containers and canola seeds took berths at Qasim International Container Terminal and Grain & Fertilizer Terminal respectively at Port Qasim here on Thursday. Three more ships scheduled to load/ offload containers, crude oil and palm oil also arrived at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the same day.
Berth occupancy was managed at the Port at 50%, where seven ships namely C.V APL Oman, C.V MSC General.C.V Maersk Detroit, M.V Azur, M.V DL Dahlia, M.T Globe Tanya and M.T Karachi occupied PQA berths to load/ offload containers, canola seeds, coal, LPG and furnace oil respectively.
Total cargo volume handled at the Port was 106,444 tons comprising 82,466 tons imports and 23,978 tons exports inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2,752 containers (TEUs) (1,306 imports and 1,751 exports TEUs) were handled during the last 24 hours.
Departures:
Three ships C.V APL Oman, M.T Globe Tanya and M.T Karachi sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while another ship C.V MSC General is expected to sail on same day afternoon.
Arrival Schedule:
Five ships C.V Palena, C.V Delmas Keat, C.V Hansa America, M.T Bunga Aster and M.T Al-Soor-II carrying containers, palm oil and diesel oil are expected to take berths at QICT, LCT and FOTCO respectively on Friday, while containers ship “MSC Albany’ is due to arrive at Port Qasim on Saturday, and ‘X-Press Kailash’ is due to arrive on Sunday.
