KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate, Port Qasim, under the supervision of Collector Mukarram Jah Ansari collected Rs 30.362 billion in the wake of duty and taxes during October of the current fiscal year.
The Customs Port Qasim collected Rs 9.462 billion under the head of customs duty, Rs 16.817 billion as sales tax, Rs 3.838 billion as income tax and Rs 224.13 million as federal excise duty (FED) during the said period.
It may be mentioned here that the department collected Rs 514 million more revenue under the head of customs duty during October 2016 against the collection of the corresponding period of last year. It has been given a target of Rs 8.948 billion as customs duty for October 2016.
As a whole, it collected Rs 1.204 trillion since July 1 to October 31, 2016 that included Rs 36.619 billion as customs duty, Rs 67.178 billion under the head of sales tax, Rs 15.188 billion in the wake of income tax and Rs 1.561 billion as FED.
Sources said that the Collector Mukarram Jah Ansari has hailed the performance of the officials of the collectorate regarding the tax collection during the said period and hoped that the officials would put up extra efforts to achieve more than the set targets. They added that clearance process has been expedited in order to meet yearly revenue targets.
