WARSAW: Remittances sent by immigrant workers in Poland to their families abroad surged to EUR 1.51 billion in 2014 from EUR 1.03 billion in 2013, the data of central bank NBP show. The vast majority of the payments went to Ukraine.
Also the number of work permits issued to foreign employees increased in 2014, by 11% on 2013, while the number of employers’ declarations on the intention to employ a foreigner grew by 64.5% year on year.
