WARSAW: Treasury Minister Zdzislaw Gawlik said in the lower house that the Polish government is considering some revision of its metals tax with analytically works at the Finance and Treasury Ministries underway, deputy. Poland’s copper giant KGHM is the main contributor of the tax. This year Poland targets PLN 1.45 billion from the tax versus PLN 1.86 billion raised in 2013.
The metals tax, introduced in April 2012, had been challenged in court on account of an alleged violation of constitutional principles and an overly short vacatio legis. The Constitutional Tribunal shot down those claims in late 2014.
