WARSAW: Poland’s rail freight carrier PKP Cargo, which has recently acquired Czech peer AWT, sees the takeover as only the beginning of a greater acquisition process, PKP Cargo CEO Adam Purwin told the daily Rzeczpospolita.
The company is planning to acquire a 49% stake in Pol-Miedz Trans company belonging to copper giant KGHM. The company would also like to acquire entities present on the market of refining and petrochemical products shipment, the CEO said adding that the company is currently taking part in several talks.
In western Europe, PKP Cargo is looking for a company having its own rolling stock and a wide client portfolio, Purwin said.
