MANILA: Police arrested three suspected drug pushers and seized more than P1 million worth of illegal drugs in separate operations in Cebu City and Consolacion in the past two days.
Last Monday at 6:30 p.m., operatives of the Cebu City Intelligence Branch (CIB) caught Jerry Delgado, 44, and Kent Bryan Atienza, 35, in a buy-bust on Sunset Drive Ext., Barangay Lahug.
Seized from their possession was suspected shabu placed in a big pack and six medium packs.
Insp. Gomersendo Mandawe, CIB deputy chief, said the contraband is worth P1.1 million. Their target was Delgado.
Lahug Barangay Captain Jun Taborada reported Delgado’s alleged illegal activities to CIB.
The buy-bust was conducted after three months of surveillance confirmed Delgado was selling shabu, said CIB Chief Romeo Santander.
At 6 a.m., yesterday, Randy Ramirez Casipong was captured by operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) and Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (PAIDSOTG) in Barangay Pulpogan, Consolacion.
Police confiscated 68 packs of suspected shabu worth more than P82,000 from Casipong, a former construction worker.
PIB and PAIDSOTG, both under the Cebu Provincial Police Office, placed the suspect under surveillance for almost a month, after they received reports about his involvement in illegal drugs.
The buy-bust was conducted after the police confirmed the reports.
Senior Insp. Armando Labora of PIB said that Casipong, 33, is a level two drug pusher who can dispose of more than 30 grams per week in Consolacion, Liloan and Compostela.
The suspects will face complaints for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2005.
Selling illegal drugs is a non-bailable offense.
Meanwhile, Noel Sadili Ardita, 39, was shot to death by an unidentified culprit in Barangay Cambinocot, Cebu City last Monday night.
The victim suffered a gunshot wound on his head.
Police are still investigating the incident.
