KARACHI: The Constitution Petition of the Superintendent Preventive Services Najam Hameed challenging his suspension remained unheard by a division bench of Sindh High Court on Wednesday due to lawyers strike against the killing of their colleague.
The Court had suspended impugned notification dated September 12 till October 15 on application filed by petitioner Najam Hameed on September 26.
The petitioner Najam Hameed challenging his suspension has named Federation of Pakistan through Secretary Finance & Revenue , Economic Affairs; Secretary Mgt (Custom III) GOP (Revenue Division) FBR; Chairman FBR; Member (Adm/Custom) GoP, FBR; Chief Controller of Custom, Custom House Karachi and Collector MCC (Preventive) of Customs as respondents.
Najam Hameed, in petition, said that he was appointed in the customs department as Preventive Officer in July 1980 and promoted on record seizure of gold to the post of Senior Preventive Officer in 1990 and Inspector in 2004 in grade 16.
The petitioner said that he was superintendent of preventive services of customs in grade 16, performing in anti-smuggling wing when Secretary Mgt (Custom III) GOP (Revenue Division) FBR, issued the impugned notification dated September 12, 2014 without any show-cause notice ordering his suspension for a period of three months.
The petitioner pleaded the court to set-aside the impugned notification which he submits is beyond the ambit of law, principles of justice and dignity of man.
