PESHAWAR: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized charas and opium and arrested one person along with vehicle being used for transportation of narcotics worth Rs9.6 million.
Sources told Customs Today that Investigation Officer Javed Shah received credible information that one Suzuki Pickup bearing registration no: MNT-15-657 having huge quantity of narcotics was going towards Punjab via GT Road Peshawar.
Pursuing the above information Director Rashid Habib Khan constituted anti-smuggling squad which was led by Superintendent Jawad Sultan including Sepoys Shah Pervaiz and Ishfaq Ahmad and Muhammad Jhangeer. The squad established a check post at GT road Peshawar near Chamkni and intercepted the suspected vehicle which was driven by Ajnabi Khan resident of Yousafabad Peshawar.
The squad conducted thorough search of the vehicle and found narcotics. The squad brought the vehicle to the Directorate of I&I Peshawar and recovered 10 packs of charas weighing 11.900 kg and 1 pack of opium weighing 1.90 kg. The squad collected samples (10 by charas and one opium) for laboratory examination.
The Customs I&I registered case under section 171 of Customs Act 1969 and arrested Ajnabi Khan while investigation will be conducted by the Directorate of I&I.
