PESHAWAR: Collectorate of Customs Appraisement generated Rs26.2 million revenue from January-July 2019 of current Fiscal Year.
The Collector said this while meeting with journalists on Tuesday to discuss matters related to importers based in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Collector further said that following directives of federal government, Customs authorities have ensured round the clock opening of Torkham border to facilitate import, export and transit at the border.
The collector announced that the close gateways for trade will be opened from 7 August which includes Mohmand cross and Chitral pass to Afghanistan.
The collector also said that 280 personnel will be recruited in order to increase the manpower of Customs collectorate.
The collector praised the opinion of fencing the border with Afghanistan due to massive smuggling across the border.
The Collector added that smuggling causes loss to revenue collection for which massive steps are needed to curb this menace from the region.
