PESHAWAR: The Air Freight Unit at Bacha Khan International Airport foiled attempt of smuggling foreign origin liquor to Peshawar and arrested a bootlegger.
Collector Customs Asif Saeed Khan Lughmani lauded AFU Peshawar Airport for thwarting possible attempt of smuggling.
The collector further said that no effort will be spared to mend the ways of smugglers. The collector directed to further squeeze the gap between smugglers and passengers. The baggage should be checked thoroughly in order to prevent smuggling from abroad.
Customs staff informed Customs Today that the seizure of foreign origin liquor was done by Customs Preventive staff at BKIA Peshawar. The liquor was being smuggled from abroad through a private airline. The air freight unit team foiled the attempt when baggage of accused was checked upon arrival at Peshawar Airport.
The liquor was hidden in a bag loaded with clothes and other cosmetics. The case was registered against the accused passenger. The seized goods include Whyte & Mackay bottles; King Robert whisky bottles; Mackinlays whisky bottles and Red Horse beer.
