MULTAN: The Pakistan Kissan Ittehad (PKI) will hold a protest demonstration in Lahore to press the government to resolve their issues.
Protesters from different cities of southern Punjab, including Multan, Lodhran, Kabirwala and Jahanian will join the sit-in. President Khalid Khokhar along with other party representatives will lead the demonstration.
The Pakistan Kissan Ittehad has demanded that the government provide facilities to farmers. The PKI office-bearers said that the costly electricity bills for tube wells were not affordable and their due installments should be waved off.
Due to low price of cotton in Pakistan, cotton growers are unable to meet the expenses of their cultivation and they do not have money to grow wheat, they said.
The PKI leaders slammed the government for giving “undue favour” to the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association by delaying the purchase of cotton from the farmers.
