KARACHI: The Pakistan and the Afghanistan governments seem keen to resolve different issue coming in the way of Afghan Transit Trade with mutual understanding and consensus.
According to the sources, Afghanistan government has requested the Pakistani authorities for eliminating the condition of guarantee and allowing the transit trade of the different items included in the negative list.
The Afghanistan on the other hand has agreed to give users IDs of the WeBOC (Web Based One Customs) that will be essential for more transparent Afghan Transit Trade. The government of Afghanistan will issue IDs for non commercial importers from the Afghan Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Pakistan has already given a list of non commercial importers to the government of Afghanistan. The decision was taken during the meeting of Pakistan and Afghanistan recently, the source added. The session held between Pakistan and Afghanistan also discussed regarding the Afhan Transit Trade route.
The Afghanistan traders during the meeting also requested for Pakistan authorities for starting the cargo handling from the route of Chaman instead of Torkham boarder. The Pakistan had not approved the request of the Afghanistan’s traders yet but assured them of consider the matter.
