KARACHI: Pakistan and Afghan Customs officials have held a meeting to keep check and balance on borders, stop infiltration of people and curb smuggling.
The Pakistan Customs was represented by Directorate General Transit Trade Director General Muhammad Javed Ghani, Director Wajid Ali, Additional Director Moona Iffat, Deputy Director Chaudhadry Fazaldad, Deputy Director Shoib Raza and others.
The Afghan delegation consisted of Afghan Customs Operations Director Mohammad Zobair Qasimzadah, Automation Director Mohammad Malyar Jabrkhel, Mohammad Shoib and Rahmat Abbas.
Transit Trade Director Wajid Ali informed Customs Today that “the Pakistani Customs and Afghan Customs have decided to hold meeting on monthly basis.” The meeting of the customs officials was held at Chaman and Torkham borders to share the information and to see the progress on the border areas.
According to the sources in Directorate General of Afghan Transit Trade, the meeting discussed agreement on customs to customs cooperation, electronic data exchange agreement for bilateral and transit trade, online and offline transit verification of Afghan and Pakistan Transit Cargo as well as TIR implementation and experience.
Director Wajid Ali also said that “the meeting will benefit both the neighboring countries and vital working relationship will lead towards better progress.”
