AMMAN: The number of Internet users in Jordan has reached almost 5 million, Head of Public Relations at the Criminal Investigation Department, Captain Bilal Al Momani said on Thursday.
Addressing a seminar on cyber crimes and ways to combat them, held Thursday at the University of Jordan, Al Momani said the number of accounts established on the social networking site, Facebook, reached nearly 4 million, with about 11 million mobile phone lines, and 6 million Whatsapp users.
He said Jordan was one of the leading Middle Eastern countries in using YouTube, and third in Facebook users, while pointing that it needed tremendous international efforts to tackle cyber crimes.
