TUCSON: Paul A. Beeson, newly appointed Chief Patrol Agent of Tucson Sector, takes command and will lead Tucson Sector into the future.
Chief Patrol Agent Beeson began his Border Patrol career in February of 1985, based on honor and service to country. With more than 30 years of experience, he has dedicated more than half of his life to ensuring a secure, safe and protected border.
Chief Beeson is a familiar face among Arizona law enforcement professionals, having served as Chief Patrol Agent of the Yuma Sector from July 2007 until November 2010. He then served as Chief Patrol Agent of the San Diego Sector until December 2014, when he returned to Tucson as Commander of the Joint Task Force West – Arizona Corridor (JTF-W, AZ) headquarters. He now serves as both Commander of the JTF-W Arizona and Chief Patrol Agent of Tucson Sector.
Chief Beeson is fully aware of the challenges he faces in maintaining the rule of law along the Arizona-Mexico border. He gives credit not only to the hard working men and women of the U.S Border Patrol, but also the multitude of other federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement and public service agencies working together to prevent cross-border criminal activity.
“Arizona presents a unique challenge,” said Beeson. “Countering the illicit activities of entrenched trafficking organizations requires an innovative, multi-faceted and collaborative approach. As long as this element exists, we will continue to evolve in order to efficiently and effectively disrupt and degrade their ability to operate.”
Since joining the U. S. Border Patrol in 1985, Beeson has served in a variety of leadership positions. His experience includes time as an Assistant Chief Patrol Agent at the Border Patrol Academy; Deputy Assistant Regional Director at the Border Patrol’s Central Regional Office; principal liaison to the Border and Transportation Security Directorate; Assistant Chief Patrol Agent and then Deputy Chief Patrol Agent for El Paso Sector; and Chief Patrol Agent for the Yuma and San Diego sectors.
Chief Beeson holds a bachelor’s degree in business studies from Dallas Baptist University and completed the Senior Managers in Government Program at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
