HYDERABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate Hyderabad has enhanced the checking on the main routes of the city. Due to this strict measure, the customs authorities aborted an attempt of smuggling in Hyderabad.
The Model Customs Collectorate’s Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Hyderabad, Customs Preventive Larkana-Jacobabad, impounded a foreign origin non-duty-paid Toyota Probox car bearing registration No: BDD-889, Model 2002, worth Rs1.5million involving duty and taxes of Rs2.1million in a crackdown during the month of March 2017-18.
Additional Collector Dr Aamer Nawaz Hamid received a tip-off about a non-duty-paid vehicle. He immediately constituted a special team of customs officers. The ASO team started searching the vehicles near customs check-post Jacobabad and intercepted the above said imported and non-duty-paid Toyota Probox car.
The team asked the driver to show the documents of the legal import and possession of the vehicle but he failed to do so.
The ASO team deposited the impounded vehicle into the Sukkur State Warehouse and forwarded the case to the Customs Adjudication for further proceeding.
The ASO raiding team consisted of Superintendent Inspectors, Sepoys, Drivers and other staff.
