PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has termed corruption poison for the nation and stressed the need for fighting against it.
A seminar held at University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar Campus-III, district Bannu on Professional Ethics and Anti-Corruption Theme. NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Additional Director (Awareness and Prevention) Tariq Khan was the chief guest while officers of all district government departments, notables, politician, students and civil society of Bannu participated in the seminar.
The NAB official remarked that corruption is an impediment in the way of prosperity and development of the country and stressed on self-accountability. He also highlighted the salient features / achievements of NAB and apprised the participants that NAB is fighting against corruption and corrupt practices through awareness, prevention and enforcement.
He also highlighted the role of NAB being a central authority of the government, signatory of UN Convention against Corruption (UNCAC). He urged the public to raise voice against corruption and contact NAB regarding all complaints against corruption and corrupt practices.
Dr. Yasir Irfan Coordinator UET Bannu campus also spoke on the occasion. The students of the local schools also sang patriotic songs and skit.
The Additional Director NAB urged upon the participants that they must adopt high moral values and play their part in eradication of corruption as responsible citizens of Pakistan. He further said instead of cursing others and making hue and cry, it is better to contribute towards the betterment of the society even to light a single match.
