LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Punjab has arrested Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) leader Qasim Zia on account of corruption. He was arrested on Saturday and produced before a Court as well.
Qasim Zia who is one of the director’s of Ali Usman Securities, was arrested following a raid by NAB officials on account of his alleged involvement in a scam worth millions of rupees in the Lahore Stock Exchange. He is allegedly involved in selling of fake shares in stock exchange which caused millions of rupees loss to the investors.
Following his arrest Zia was produced in an accountability court where the Court remanded him into NAB’s custody on fourteen days physical remand.
There is another corruption charge leveled against Qasim Zia as he is allegedly involved in embezzlement of PHF funds. According to Customs Today, sources it was revealed in audit report of Pakistan Hockey Federation that in a budget of Rs 1.5 billion more than 700 million rupees have no record in PHF documents. The corruption was valued at approximately Rs 700 million, and investigations are still underway.
Zia is the former president of the Pakistan Hockey Federation and a former MPA at the Punjab Assembly. He has also played for Pakistan hockey team from 1980 to 1987 and also served as president Pakistan Hockey federation for more than seven years.
