MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) seized huge quantity of smuggled tyres and tube worth Rs1.4 million from Dera Ghazi Khan.
According to details, collector Preventive received credible information from their source that different smuggled tyres along with tubes were transported in the Dera Ghazi region.
Said tyres and tubes were entered into jurisdiction from Quetta and transported in the jurisdiction through Taunsa route. Deputy Collector Customs Preventive Maqbool Ahmad Baloch formed special team comprising Inspector Muhammad Asif Rafique Sandhu and others to thwart any attempt of smuggling in the territory and also directed Anti-Smuggling Squad to keep strict vigil on the movement of smuggled tyres along with tubes and other miscellaneous goods to prevent smuggling.
Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization teams intercepted suspected truck from Dera Ghazi Khan region which was loaded with huge quantity of assorted brands size tyres and tubes. Customs staff recovered foreign origin tyres from truck during examination. Almost 32 various branded tyres along with flap and tubes of having size of 1100R20 were recovered during examination of Customs Preventive staff.
Drivers of the vehicles presented import documents of loaded goods along with bilities to customs staff on their demand. The bilties provided by drivers found to be bogus. The value of seized goods was almost Rs.1.4 million and duty taxes of Rs0.7 million. Further investigations against recovered tyres are still under way.
