MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Collectorate Preventive has seized non-duty paid vehicles and goods of worth Rs205.35 million during various anti-smuggling crackdown in February 2019-20.
Collector Fayyaz Anwar has carried out crackdown against smuggled goods in the Collectorate to curb smuggling in the territory. Multan Customs Anti-Smuggling staffs were deployed strategically in the jurisdiction to foil the different attempts of smuggling. Multan Customs enhanced has enhanced the monitoring of the suspected routes to intercept the non-customs paid (NCP) vehicles.
The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) was assigned task of Rs186 million for the month of February but the Collectorate impounded 12 smuggled vehicles of worth Rs24.600 million including Toyota Vitz, Honda Civic, Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Hilux Surf and others in their various crackdown. All impounded vehicles were found non-duty paid and non-tampered during verification.
Anti-Smuggling Organization has detected seizure cases of betel nuts, cloths, cigarettes and others of almost worth Rs180 million during their aggressive crackdown in the region during February 2019-20.
Customs Preventive has seized miscellaneous goods and vehicles of worth Rs44.38 million in anti-smuggling actions during corresponding period of February 2018-19.
These impounded vehicles and goods were intercepted from Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Jhang, Sargodha, Mianwali region during crackdown of Anti-Smuggling Organization in the month of February.
Customs Preventive anti-smuggling squad has specifically focused on the interception of smuggled vehicles and goods in the Jurisdiction to curtail transportation of non-duty paid vehicles and various goods from clandestine routes in the country.
Multan Customs has done successful anti-smuggling operations and seized huge quantity of foreign origin HSD products, betel nuts, cloths, auto parts and contraband items in their action during February.
