MULTAN: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized huge quantity of smuggled foreign origin tyres along with vehicles from Dera Ghazi Khan in their action.
Sources told Customs Today that Customs Intelligence and Investigation received information from its credible source that huge quantity of foreign origin tyres will be smuggled through jurisdiction. Customs Intelligence alerted its staff and formed special team comprised of Inspector Adnan Chandio, Inspector Muhammad Jameel, Zulfiqar and Shakil-ur-Rehman to foil any attempt of smuggling from Dera Ghazi Khan.
Customs Intelligence teams enhanced patrolling on different routes of Dera Ghazi Khan region to intercept them by deputing staff at entrance of different points for strict vigilance.
Field Investigation Unit (FIU) Dera Ghazi Khan intercepted a suspected truck loaded with huge quantity of foreign origin tyres.
Field Intelligence staff asked the driver to produce documents regarding legal import of the recovered goods. But driver of the truck failed to produce any legal documents to justify its legal possession of said goods regarding the transportation of the recovered goods.
Driver told customs staff that he was coming from Quetta to transport said goods in South Punjab region. Customs Intelligence also seized two smuggled body frames of Truck during their action.
Customs Intelligence staff seized recovered tyres along with truck which amounting almost Rs15.4 million and duty taxes of Rs12 million.
Customs teams seized said goods under Customs act 1969.Further investigation are still under way.
