MULTAN: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) generated Rs70.3 million through the auction of confiscated vehicles and miscellaneous goods.
According to details, Customs Intelligence and Investigation held public auction of seized miscellaneous goods and vehicles in Raja Pur Office near Khanewal Road.
Different confiscated vehicles and miscellaneous goods were presented in auction who were seized during different anti-smuggling actions. There were 20 smuggled vehicles of different brands and models offered presented for auction.
Huge number of bidders participated in the auction process for bidding. Customs Intelligence auction was held after almost four months and monthly auctions were cancelled due to outspread of Corona Virus. Directorate of Customs Intelligence decided to carry out auction of the June after the lock down and auction was also the last auction before the end of economic year 2019-20.
Customs Intelligence adopted precautionary measures to contain COVID-19 and social distance was maintained and face mask was mandatory during auction.
As many as 31 impounded vehicles were sold out in Rs45.4 million after successful bidding in the auction. Customs intelligence offered almost 39 various vehicles includes Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Hilux Surf, BMW, Audi, Toyota Mark X, Toyota Crown ,Toyota Premio, Toyota Fielder, Suzuki swift, Hino Ranger Truck, Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla G, Toyota Vitz, Toyota Corolla X and others.
Remaining vehicles were unsold due to fewer price offered by bidders in auction. These confiscated vehicles were non-tampered and non-duty paid. Customs Intelligence offered these confiscated vehicles for auction after completion of legal procedure and trial from Customs Adjudication.
The Customs Intelligence has also sold only 9 various lots out of 19 miscellaneous goods of almost worth Rs.24.9 million during auction. The lots included old and used tyres , Diesel Generator , plastic paper scrap, paper, skimmed milk, plastic beads LTV alloy rims, bourage brand of polyethylene, BOPP films, nuts, tiles, Rims, magnesium powder, cloths, calcium frames, gypsum stones, ground nuts in shell and others.
Assistant Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Javed Raza supervised the whole auction process.
