MULTAN: Excise and Taxation Divisional Director Jam Siraj Ahmad said that the department recovered Rs855.7 million taxes against the target of Rs840 million set for six months (July to December) during the fiscal year 2015.
Talking to APP here Tuesday, Director Jam Siraj Ahmad said that the Excise Department was utilising all available resources for tax recovery, adding that Excise department Multan always remained at top position in recovery.
Siraj said that the property tax recovery target for the corresponding period was Rs 291.3 million and the department recovered Rs 310.5 million. He said that the Excise Department h recovered Rs 450.8 million of motor tax against set recovery target of Rs 403.2 million.
He maintained that the recovery target of excise duty was Rs 33.8 million and Rs 38.8 million were recovered, Rs 27.8 million recovered as professional tax against set target of Rs 22.9 million, cotton-fee target was Rs 91.2 million and Rs 34 million were recovered. The recovery target of entertainment tax was Rs 2.5 millions and the department recovered Rs 2.3 million during the last six months.
Jam Siraj added that due to low production of cotton, there was Rs 60 million loss in cotton fee, but the department compensated its loss by recovering 10 per cent more taxes in other sectors.
