Multan Dry Port generates Rs 1.218 billion revenue

MULTAN: The Multan Dry Port Trust generated revenue to the tune of Rs1.218 billion from handling exports and imports in the month of August.
As per details, the MDPT received import consignments consisted of auto spare parts, oil, lubricants, machinery, chemical, iron and steel, worth Rs376 million in the month of July.
While, the import consignments handled in the month of August were consisted of chemical, machinery, iron and steel worth Rs175 million, Rs94 million and Rs9.2 million respectively.
Similarly, the MDPT collected customs duty and tax amounting to Rs 85 million during the month in question.
According to report, the major export items of MDPT was grey cloth, cotton yarn, textile products and leather goods worth Rs235.4 million, Rs200.6 million, Rs 76 million and Rs 65 million respectively.
The total weightage handled at the port during August was 2157,376 kilograms.
The total containers moved in the MDPT were 372 including 244 containers of export and 128 containers were of import during the corresponding month.
Despite the fact that the current political instability has hit the economy hard, affecting the imports and exports but the MDPT performed well in the month of August.
MDPT General Manager Col (r) Awais Butt talking exclusively to Customs Today, said that the port management was providing best services to the business community which had resulted in boosting economic activities and increased revenue of the MDPT.
