MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement & Compliance (E&C) seized smuggled goods worth Rs101.373 million during anti-smuggling drive.
Customs Collectorate Enforcement & Compliance (E&C) Multan Anti-Smuggling Organization received credible information that huge quantity of smuggled goods will be transported through Dera Ghazi Khan to South Punjab Region. Collector Muneeza Majeed directed to thwart attempt of smuggling. Additional Collector formed special team of Anti-Smuggling Organization to take strict action against smuggled goods in jurisdiction.
Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan Units started patrolling on the suspected routes and intercepted a container near Sakhi Sarwar which was loaded with different foreign origin goods during examination of goods. ASO DG khan and Multan teams have detained a container loaded with 42 cartons of cigarettes, 10 cartons of Motorcycle fuel tank cap in 2000 pcs, steel bolt and nuts of 35 cartons which were almost 1050 pieces, Drive Chain PQM in 59 cartons of 1180 pcs, DTC chains packed in 48 cartons of 1920 pieces, 7700 kilograms of Welding Rods packed in 385 cartons. Customs teams found various brands of assorted light traffic vehicle tyres in different sizes.
Customs Anti-smuggling squad recovered 17060 kilograms of betel nuts from container during examination. The net value of recovered goods was almost Rs51.663 million and duty taxes of Rs35.107 million. The value of vehicle was Rs15 million. Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization teams asked driver to provide legal documents of the foreign origin goods. Driver provided irrelevant Gd,s which did not match the goods. Upon failure in providing relevant import documents Customs Anti-Smuggling teams decided to seize said miscellaneous goods after thorough examination.
