MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement & Compliance seized foreign origin consignment of iron pad locks of worth Rs2.2 million.
Additional Collector Syed Ali Abbas Gardezi has formed special team of the Anti-Smuggling Organization Sahiwal to conduct operation after receiving credible information regarding the smuggling of goods from Sahiwal Region.
Anti-Smuggling Organization has formed anti-smuggling squad comprising Inspector Mohsin Fiaz and others to intercept the said goods. Anti-Smuggling Organization Sahiwal conducted this timely operation without the assistance of any other law enforcement agency
Customs Anti-Smuggling Squad Sahiwal team intercepted a truck which was loaded with foreign origin iron pad locks. The loaded trucks were going to Lahore from Sahiwal but Customs has intercepted them in their route on the basis of their concrete information.
Customs teams detained the loaded Hino trucks along with iron pad locks .The driver of the said goods produced the import documents in which they have claimed that they are importing iron scrap from Afghanistan and Iran.
Anti-Smuggling Organization Sahiwal found 20 cartons of iron pad locks of foreign origin in different size and brands. Almost 3288 Iron pad locks pieces were recovered from consignment during their action. Customs team found discrepancies on the verification of provided GDs through examination process of loaded goods.
The detained trucks were seized by the Multan Customs along with their Iron pad locks under the Customs act 1969.Further investigation is still under process.
