MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement & Compliance (E&C) seized foreign origin plastic bags worth Rs24.55 million from Sahiwal.
Sources told Customs Today that MCC E&C received credible information that huge quantity of smuggled plastic bags will be transported to Multan region.
Collector Muneeza Majeed directed Additional Collector Ghulam Nabi Kamboh Faisalabad region and Assistant Collector Omer Sajjad to thwart any attempt of smuggling.
Additional Collector Ghulam Nabi Kamboh and Assistant Collector Omer Sajjad formed special team comprises Inspector Waqas Leghari, Inspector Muhammad Azhar Zaheer and Inspector Khalid Mehmood Gujjar along with other staff to take action against smuggled goods.
ASO Sahiwal of MCC Multan intercepted a truck near Harappa Toll Plaza containing smuggled plastic bags. Anti-smuggling staff of Sahiwal Custom’s teams recovered 25000 kilograms of plastic bags along with vehicles. The net value of the seized goods is almost Rs24.55 million. Multan Customs staff has brought the 10-wheeler truck to Multan Dry Port for the examination
Customs Investigation and Prosecution has also started legal action to lodge FIR against offenders for smuggling plastic bags. Further investigations are still under way.
