MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement & Compliance seized huge quantity of non-customs paid foreign origin crockery during operation near Khanewal.
Sources told Customs Today that Customs Collector Muneeza Majeed received credible information that smuggled goods will be transported from Multan to Faisalabad and she alerted anti-smuggling squad to thwart any attempt of through strict vigilance.
An anti-smuggling was formed under the supervision of Inspector Muhammad Saleem Khan and others to take action against smuggled glassware.
Anti-smuggling squad enhanced the patrolling and monitoring of suspected routes to intercept non-duty goods. During patrolling of suspected routes customs anti-smuggling staff impounded an Isuzu trailer bearing registration number of TLE-179/Quetta model 1975 which was loaded with foreign origin crockery. The intercepted foreign crockery was Iran origin. Smuggled crockery was packed in almost 1850 cartons during their action. The net weight of said glassware was almost 20000 kilograms. Customs anti-smuggling squad teams asked driver to produce any import documents of said glassware’s to justify their possession.
Driver Fazal Rehman of said Isuzu trailer failed to produce any legal documents of the said crockery and customs team seized the goods and framed seizure report against non-customs paid crockery. The net worth of seized was almost Rs7 million and value of trailer was also almost Rs12million. Further proceedings against seized crockery are still under process.
