MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) seized 2500 kilogram foreign origin consignment of dry milk powder loaded on a truck from Sadiqabad region.
Sources told Customs Today that the Collectorate received reliable information from the source that huge quantity of non-duty paid dry milk powder (skimmed milk) will be transported through Sadiqabad region. Deputy Collector Saqib-ur-Rehman Warraich formed special team comprising Inspector Muhammad Afzal Butt, Inspector Fiaz ullah, Inspector Farooq Aslam to foil their bid of smuggling.
Sources told that anti-smuggling squad intercepted a suspected truck loaded with foreign origin dry milk powder near Kot Sabzal area Sadiqabad. Anti-Smuggling Organization team recovered more than 140 cartons of foreign origin dry milk powder.
The net weight of the recovered almond was almost 2500 kilograms. The recovered skimmed milk was China origin. Customs teams asked driver of the said truck to provide legal documents of the foreign origin almonds. Upon failure of driver in providing any import documents regarding the import of the almonds.
Customs teams decided to seize skimmed milk after thorough examination. The driver informed customs staff that he was coming from Karachi and its destination was Multan. Anti-Smuggling squad seized skimmed under Customs Act 1969. The total worth of the seized skimmed milk was Rs750,000.
