MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) seized foreign origin cigarettes and gutka worth Rs1.1 million.
As per details, Multan Customs Preventive has received credible information that huge quantity of foreign origin smuggled goods would be transported through to Multan Region.
Deputy Collector Maqbool Ahmad Baloch formed the special team led by Inspector Abdul Samad along with other staff to thwart them after mounting concrete information about smuggling goods.
Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization team took special measures for the recovery of non-duty paid cigarettes by taking effective measure to curb smuggling in the region and intercepted smuggled goods near Ghalla Mandi Multan.
Customs teams intercepted the suspected truck loaded with the said goods due to their authentic information from the informer.
During examination they recovered huge quantity of foreign origin cigarettes including different brands of foreign origin and One 2 One gutka. Customs squad teams recovered 13 cartons of smuggled cigarettes and the net quantity of cigarettes sticks were Rs1,30,000/. The net quantity of One 2 One gutka was 92008 sachets during their examination.
Multan Customs asked the drivers of the trucks to produce legal documents of recovered cigarettes and gutka but they failed to produce any import documents to justify their legal possession.
Customs Preventive teams seized recovered Contraband items by framing a seizure report under Customs act 1969.
The value of seized Cigarettes and Cigars were almost Rs1.1 million. Further Investigation was still under process.
