MULTAN: Customs Investigation and Prosecution (I&P) branch lodged FIR against two accused who were involved in smuggling of foreign origin High Speed Diesel (HSD) recovered by Rajan Pur Police in joint action.
Sources told Customs Today that Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization team intercepted suspected Hino oil tanker bearing registration number TKV-490/ Sindh on the credible information received from informer. The impounded oil tanker was intercepted in the Rajanpur area which was loaded with huge quantity of foreign origin High Speed Diesel of Rs5 million.
ASO team asked the driver and its companion to provide documents of the said Hino oil tanker to justify its legal possession but they failed to produce any relevant documents. Rajanpur Police handed over both accuse and Hino oiltTanker to Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization for further action.
Multan Customs seized the smuggled 40,000 liters High Speed Diesel under Customs Act 1969 and Customs Investigation & Prosecution lodged criminal FIR against two arrested accused for smuggling attempt.
Accused were identified as Muhammad Naseem resident of Qila Saifullah Khan and Sardar Muhammad resident of Quetta was arrested on charges of smuggling. Multan Customs charged arrested smuggler in the criminal case for smuggling under section U/S 2(s) 16, 32, 32A, 157(2), 178 of the Customs Act 1969.
It was also revealed that said accused were trying to supply foreign origin High Diesel to different cities of South Punjab. Further investigations against accused were still under process.
