MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs has impounded three non-customs paid vehicles worth Rs 5.2 million from jurisdiction in their different actions.
According to details, Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization has accelerated crackdown against smuggled vehicles in the territory on the directions of Collector Ambreen Ahmad Tarar. Collector Ambreen directed field staff of Anti-Smuggling Organization to step up their operations in the region to curb smuggling of non-customs paid vehicles.
Anti-Smuggling Organization vehicle cell which includes Inspector Abdul Samad, Sepoy Muhammad Irfan Qureshi, Abdul Sattar and Sajjad Qureshi impounded Toyota Corolla vehicle of model 2007 worth Rs1 million from Sher Shah Toll Plaza in their routine patrolling. Same teams intercepted Suzuki Jimny jeep worth Rs 1.2 million from Muzaffargarh region.
Customs anti-smuggling squad impounded Toyota Hiace van model 2008 from surrounding of Sher Shah Road in their third operation. The value of seized Hiace van was almost Rs3 million.
Customs asked the drivers of the said vehicles to produce documents for proving legal possession of the vehicles but they failed to present any documents regarding. Multan Customs seized all three vehicles under Customs act 1969. The values of the seized vehicles were Rs.5.2 million. Further investigations are still underway.
