MULTAN: The Model of Customs Collectorate Appraisement has foiled a bid to smuggle imported branded cell phones from Multan International Airport.
According to details, Customs authorities deputed at Multan International Airport was alerted by Collector Appraisement to prevent any smuggling.
Assistant Collector Ahmad Zaheer received information that smuggling attempt can be made through Multan International Airport and in pursuance of information and he directed his staff to remain vigilant at the Multan International Airport for the watchful monitoring of the passengers goods in order to avoid any clearance of suspicious goods.
During the examination of the passenger goods arriving from Dubai through Fly Dubai flight no.FZ-339 and recovered 8 various branded cell phones from luggage bag.
Customs teams detained the luggage in their custody for examination purpose from possession of the passenger who identified him as Muhammad Jamal.
Sources told Customs Today that said passenger have concealed eight expansive latest model Apple I-phones in luggage. Few recovered cell phones were used ones and non-duty paid. Customs teams detained said cell phones for smuggling attempt.
The recovered cell phones were detained under section 168 of the Customs Act, 1969 and further investigation in the smuggling of cell phones was still under process.
