MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Appraisement Collector Saima Shehzad held an important meeting to discuss the import and export clearance procedure of Multan Dry Port.
During the meeting, Assistant Collector Multan Dry Port Beenish Rasheed, Assistant Collector Multan International Airport and General Manager Multan Dry Port Trust Col (r) Awais Butt were also present.
Collector Saima Shehzad directed Assistant Collector Beenish Rasheed to make action plan for the enhancement of business utilization at the Multan Dry Port to raise the revenues by giving better facilities to importers and exporters of the region. Assistant Collector Multan updated the Collector about the import and export scenario of the Multan Dry Port. She instructed staff to ensure the well-timed clearance of consignments at the Multan Dry Pot and needless delay should not be tolerated at any cost for the advancement of services at the Multan Dry Port.
Assistant Collector Multan International Airport Ahmad Zaheer informed the Collector that international flights have been increased from Multan Airport and special measurements are taken by ensuring proper scanning in order to avoid smuggling and money laundering
General Manager Multan Dry Port Trust Col (R) Awais Butt informed the Collector that importers and exporters are afraid of WeBOC system and majority of South Punjab export has been shifted to Karachi due to trust deficit on Customs. Almost 6000 export containers of South Punjab are cleared from Karachi and Customs cooperation is required to bring exporters at Multan and Sadiqabad terminals. He informed that importers and exporters are facing issues in issuance of WeBOC IDs which are only handled in Faisalabad office and Multan Dry Port importers face issues in obtaining WeBOC accounts in this regard.
All issues of importers and exporters regarding customs examination must be resolved in order to boost the services of Multan Dry Port and Multan International Airport by adopting professional approach, the collector expressed during meeting.
