QUETTA: With the temperature dropped to minus 7 degree Centigrade, the suspension of gas supply to Quetta and some other town of Balochistan has caused innumerable miseries for the residents and has given rise to various cold-related disease.
According to reports, the Sui Southern Gas Company suspended supply from Zarghoon Gas Field to Quetta due to repair of a pipeline and reduced supply from Sui gas plant, citing a fire incident at purification plant of the PPL in Sui which left the plant inoperative .
The company informed that repair of the damaged purification plant was underway and it would be completed in next 48 hours.
On the other hand, residents of Pishin, Ziarat, Mastung, Mangochar and Kalat are facing extreme difficulties owing to unavailability of gas in the prevailing freezing weather.
Meanwhile, a people in large numbers have been visiting hospitals with conditions caused by extreme cold.
Most patients are women, children and the elderly, complaining about fever, cold, influenza and pneumonia.
The resident demanded the govt to ensure ample gas supply to these areas to help people cope with the prevailing harsh weather.
